 THE LEGEND WHALE
I was reading this story from yahoo today Pro surfer gets an unexpected escort and remember my grandmother's whale experience. .
Believe it or not my grandmother had even more extreme experience with whale. It happened when my grandmother was moving from Hue to Nha Trang, Vietnam when the country was divided north and south in 1945 for the civil war. She was on the small boat that hold enough herself, my aunt, and the boat driver sailing south on the southeast China Sea. About 50 miles offshore from destination it hit the storm, the engine crashed and they lost all paddles. The boat driver told my grandmother that this is it; our journey is going to end here. My grandmother was desperate closing her eyes and praying Buddha for help. And suddenly the boat driver yelled out loud. Buddha heard you, he's sending whale to save us. My grandmother opened her eyes and saw a huge whale was pushing and escorting the boat to the shore. My dad was born two years later. So without the whale help I wouldn't be here today. My grandmother has later learned that Nha Trang having history of whale saving life and whale has become the legend. Fisherman never kill whale there. They actually pray for whale help when sailing to the sea.
